In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, SpotX has teamed up with Amobee, UM, DoubleVerify, and others to share the latest information via video PSA ads.
The PSAs, which are running globally, will link to dedicated COVID-19 sites from The World Health Organization (WHO) or Centers for Disease Control (CDC). The campaign aims to direct the public to legitimate news sites and best practices for personal and public safety to combat misinformation and help prevent the spread of the virus.
Several of the media owners and publishers we work with have generously contributed inventory in support of the effort, including A+E Networks, Discovery, Gameloft, Philo, and SendtoNews.
These video ads will run across the SpotX platform in both over-the-top (OTT) and online video inventory. We are providing our services pro bono for the campaign, and will serve the ads through private marketplaces with each media owner.

The PSA initiative kicked off on March 13 and since then 19 brands, agencies, broadcasters, and ad tech companies around the world have quickly joined Amobee. In the first two weeks alone, the campaign served nearly 6 million impressions reaching 4.7 million unique users.
We’ve seen an increase in PSA advertising as the entire industry joins the effort to combat the virus. In March, PSA ad spend across the SpotX platform grew by 304%, the majority of which is related to COVID-19, and spend is expected to be 2,219% higher than average in April. Of this PSA ad spend, 67% ran on CTV devices, 29% on web, and 4% on mobile.
