Interview with Kevin Schaum of SpotX and IABM.tv
Kevin Schaum, senior director of Advanced Solutions Group at SpotX, recently spoke with IABM.tv about the monetization of OTT offerings, the challenges in live OTT environments for both ad servers and advertisers, and the importance of data throughout the video advertising supply chain.
“There’s several challenges that are there — in live OTT environments. The first is just having a bunch of viewers that are watching the same thing at one time. So, historically, OTT was more of a video-on-demand experience — where people were watching really at any time that they wanted to,” says Schaum. “There’s this shift of having live linear broadcast television delivered over the internet, and with that you have a bunch of people that are watching all at the exact same time, which poses some pretty serious challenges for both the ad serving platform and then also for the advertisers that are wanting to reach that content.”
