RTL Group’s full acquisition of SpotX in October set the stage for continued growth and innovation. As a global leader across broadcast, content and digital, RTL Group is completely dedicated to execute a larger ad tech strategy as a fundamental part of its ‘Total Video’ approach. SpotX and smartclip are at the center of this larger ad tech strategy, and will begin to merge into one company, one platform with one strong global team.

This is an exciting time for both teams as we create the leading, independent global video monetization platform for broadcasters and premium inventory owners to maximize the value of their audiences consuming video content across all devices. Our integrated team will help us build a broader, more compelling global offering for a total video ad infrastructure.

In tech and digital, scale matters, and with this merger, we achieve that with more than 500 professionals located in almost every region of the world. And while both companies do many of the same things, we are also very complementary, with each company bringing something unique to the market (e.g. SpotX’s video header bidding solution and smartclip’s addressable TV offering). We believe there are many opportunities to provide an even broader and more compelling global offering — and the best way to achieve this ambitious goal is to ensure that the best of both businesses are combined.

Over the next two months, the two teams will be focused on Q4, achieving business goals and serving customers. They will also be planning SpotX’s detailed strategy for next year and beyond. This combined team has a bright future ahead and will work hard and collaborate to achieve our ambitious strategy, including further acquisitions, partnerships and organic innovations.

Our customers and investing in brand safety remain at the core of everything we do. We’ll continue to execute on our strategy to lead the way in digital video monetization, OTT and addressable TV. And to work hard to be that full stack total video solution for broadcasters and premium media owners. We look forward to sharing more exciting news with you in the coming months.
